Respect each other: this means Staff should respect the guests, staff should respect other staff, guests should respect the staff, and guests should respect other guests. If there is a problem, it should be resolved as calmly and considerately as possible; the ignore button also exists for a reason. That being said, staff should be alerted as soon as possible to rule-breaking, and their decisions should not be rebuked or rebelled. If you have a problem with staff's ruling or believe you are being treated unfairly, contact Malpais with relevant logs and concerns.
Timeline
Most feral dreams go by the standard 1 week in real time = 1 month in-character; however, as horses age differently than the common feral species (felines and canines), the timeline for Moorlands is 1 real life week = 2 in-character months. This is mandatory for foals to follow, up until 2 years of age. After that, characters may age at the discretion of their player, the reason being that we believe it is unfair to force a timeline on people who are busy with work, school, or life otherwise to constantly be on furcadia.
As-is, horses often live well into their 30s and are still active without complication; after all, even by strictly following this timeline, it would take 3 years for a horse to reach the age of 26. Wild horses sometimes have a lower life expectancy in the mid-late teens, which would still take nearly 2 real-life years (13 weeks shy of 2 years = just over 15 in-game years); therefore, outside of youth and pregnancy, it is a bit silly to enforce a general timeline.
As for pregnancy:
Horse Gestation: 11 months, in game time of 5 weeks, three days
Zebra Gestation: 12 months (minimum - the average is 405 days), in game time of 6 weeks
Donkey Gestation: 12 months, in game time of 6 weeks
This is based on the mare/jennet. For example, if the foal is a mule, the mother's pregnancy will last 11 months; if the foal is a hinny, the mother's pregnancy will last 12 months.
Hybrids & Foals
Any cross between species (HorsexZebra, DonkeyxZebra, HorsexDonkey, or any combination thereof) cannot be player-created; they must be born from existing, active players in the dream. They will always be sterile/infertile (with the exception of a mule that acquires that specific slot).
Foals will age according to the previously mentioned timeline until they are 2 years old. They are not allowed to start their own herd until this age is reached; however, colts may form bachelor bands before this age.
If orphaned (whether ICly or OoCly [e.g. parents go inactive]), a foal may be taken in and nursed by another mare/herd; otherwise, foals under the age of 6 months cannot and will not survive alone/without aid.
Though horses often reach sexual maturity by a year (give or take three months), both Zebras and Donkeys are not sexually mature until at least two years; thus, for the sake of consistency, no character may breed until they are at least two years of age.
